Allah SWT has said in the Noble Quran About (PBUH)

Allah SWT has said in the Noble Quran:

Ye have indeed in the Apostle of Allah a beautiful pattern of (conduct) for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day and who engages much in the praise of Allah. (Al-Ahzab)

Seerah is a tool and methology for us to understand our beloved Prophet's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) noble charecter.

Here are a couple of examples to show how important knowing the Seerah is and how can it impact the way we think and interpret the things around us.

Amr ibn al Aas (Raa), was one of the staunchest enemies of the prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), one of the top plotters against Islam who accepted Islam and became a noble companion. When he was crying on his death bed, his son told him: O my father didn’t Rasool Allah SAW give you the glad tidings about this and that. It was reported that the Prophet PBUH had said: "Amr Ibn Al Aas has attained faith, (ie he is a Mu’min)". His son was trying to give him the glad tidings that he was a true believer. Amr ibn al Aas turned around and said: I have been through 3 stages in my life: At the first stage the most despised man to me was Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and my desire was to get my hands on him and kill him, he says. "Had I died at that time, I would have definitely been in Hell fire". He continues, "and then Allah put the love of Islam in my heart and I went to Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said: I want to become Muslim, extend your hand so that I may pledge my allegiance to you". "So Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) extended his hand forward, and I pulled my hand away". Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked Amr about what was the matter? Amr Ibn al Aas said: أريد أن اشترط لنفسي , “I have a condition”.  Rasool (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked him: “what is your condition?” He said my condition is to get pardon, and clemency. This was because of the regret of what he had done in the past and wanted to be forgiven for all he had done.

Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) smiled and said: “O Amr, do you not know that Islam erases everything before it and hijrah erases everything before it and Hajj erases everything before it.”

Amr said “so I became Muslim, at that stage. Muahmmed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) , from being my worst enemy, became the most beloved person to me in the whole world, and I loved and respected him so much that I couldn’t even get a full glimpse of his face, whenever I used to see him. I would stare down (in respect), and if you ask me today to describe him to you, I can’t. And had I died in that state, I would have hoped to be in Jannah.”

The Hadith continues, but what we want to emphasis here is how Amr ibn Al Aas's life changed when he got to know the Prophet Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم). By knowing Rasool Allah, he who was his worst enemy, became his most beloved companion.

Another instance was with Suhail bin Amr. Suhail was sent by Quraish to negotiate with Muahmmed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in the pact of Hudaiybiya, Suhail was a famous negotiator and had been to the courts of the Romans,  the Persians and the Abyssinians. When he came to Madina and had first hand experience of how the Sahaba RAA would treat Muhammed SAW, he reported back to Quraish “I visited the Roman emperor, I visited the Persian emperor, I visited Al Najashi (the negus) of Abysinnia, but I have never in my life seen a leader that is so beloved to his followers and so respected by his companions as Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم).”

He carries on:

“I saw amazing things; When Muahmmed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to make Wudu (ablution before prayer), Sahaba would rush to grab the water dripping from his body.” He also told Quresh that whatever they do or plan, companions of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)  will never give up their leader even they have to sacrifice their live for him."

We can go on and on. But the simple point to understand here is that in order to get the true essence of our religion, we have to know the blessed seerah of our beloved prophet.

Upon accepting Safwan ibn Qudama (R.A.) said to Rasool Allah:  'O Messenger of Allah, I love you.' Prophet replied, 'A man is with the one he loves.'" (Tirmidhi)

May Allah fill our hearts with the love for His beloved Prophet and let us be with him in Jannah.
