Hazrat Bilal Bin Rabah(R.A)
Hazrat Bilal Bin Rabah(R.A) was the companion of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) born 580 CE. He has the title of being the first Moazzin of Islam.
Hazrat Bilal Bin Rabah(R.A) was an Ethiopian slave. He secretly converted to Islam but when his master knew about it, he gave him severe physical punishments but he steadfast to his belief. Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A) bought him from his master and set him free. When the pattern of AZAN was selected, then Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) appointed Bilal to say the first AZAN. During the life of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) Bilal was the one who said AZAN. However, after the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) passed away, Bilal gave AZAN only once when he traveled back from Syria.
Bilal died in Damascus in 640 .
